He had been charged with displaying any writing or sign which was threatening, abusive or insulting, with intent to cause persons of an Islamic background harassment, alarm or distress.
Yesterday, as Wale appeared in court to be sentenced, his solicitor Rachel Dyson said he had been having "great difficulties" due to parking by people attending the mosque near his home.
She said Wale had seen people having to step off the safety of the pavement into the road because of the manner in which those cars were parked.
He had tried to deal with the problem "appropriately" but nothing was ever done by the authorities.
He had "snapped" and committed these offences. Wale was ashamed of his behaviour. As a Roman Catholic he had confessed in his local church and accepted the notes were "deeply unpleasant".
Chairman of the magistrates Elaine Berry said he targeted the Muslim community over six weeks.
"This was a sustained racial attack against a religious community which is unacceptable."
He was given an 18-month custodial sentence suspended for 12 months, with 12 months supervision and ordered to pay £75 costs.
